SEASON 2010

We are pleased to offer the following programme of events and functions for 2010 and would advise your earliest booking if you do not want to miss out.

The Mid Season Footy Wrap is always a great event where supporters can come along and get the inside word on how footy Cats-style is going.  As one of, if not the best, Cats function on the calendar you should make sure you book early to avoid disappointment.  A great night out and one not to be missed.

Melbourne Junior Football Clinic

Wesley College, St Kilda

GFC players, including Premiership players Shannon Byrnes, Cameron Mooney and David Wocjinski, were in attendance to put junior members through their paces in a range of activities including tackling, handball and goal kicking.  Other players in attendance included Trent West, Daniel Menzel, Steven Motlop, Tom Gillies and the J-Pod!  Despite the wintry conditions, the juniors had a great time.

The clinics (there is also a Geelong clinic) are put on each year for GFC junior members aged between 6 and 15 years old. The cost is minimal but you do need to get in early to ensure a place.

Bookings for this particular event are only made through the GFC.

Saturday, 10 July 2010

This year our pre-game function (Cats v Hawks at the MCG 10 July 2010) was a sold out event.  The format was the same as for previous years, with traditional footy food provided (a hot gourmet pie and chips, selection of sandwiches and scone with jam/cream to finish), a casual and relaxed atmosphere and a couple of interesting speakers in 1989GF Club enforcer Mark Yeates and our popular All Australian CHB Matty Egan.  As usual, past player Jason Snell was our Master of Ceremonies and did a fantastic job again.  Also, a special thank you to Ali and Loretta from the Club for their excellent work in making the function so successful.

The cost of attending this function also included a reserved seat outside the function room on level 2 and was a great opportunity to make a group up and all sit together at the footy!

Cost per person was only

$45 adult Metrocats members ($50 non-members)
$22-50 junior MetroCats members ($25 non-members)

Over 400 guests attended and the raffle prizes were a 2010 team signed and framed jumper (1st and valued at $1000), a memorabilia collage and print of Corio Oval (2nd - valued at around $250) and a We Are Geelong book signed by the pregame celebrities (3rd).

Nine Lives - Geelong and MetroCats Footy Wrap

Where: Hilton on the Park, Melbourne
When: Wednesday 18 August
Time: 7.00pm – 11.00pm
Price: $100 Nine Lives-Geelong and MetroCats members, $115 non members

In our view, this is one of the best value Club functions each year - and is routinely sold out!  The coaching staff and a number of high profile players, make that premiership players, are in attendance and the whole evening is a fun-filled relaxing experience.  There are a number of main and silent auctions offering a range of items and there is sure to be something for everyone.  Definitely an event not to be missed - so contact the Club as soon as possible to reserve your places.

Brownlow Monday 20 September 2010

Once again we are planning to gather at The Arcadia in South Yarra to (hopefully) celebrate another Cats Brownlow Medalist!  Our sponsor provides a private room and bar for this event and guests simply purchase drinks on the night.  Naturally, there are large screen TV's throughout the Hotel.  We usually hold a sweep of the more fancied players and split the proceeds between the placegetters and some basic finger food (eg pizzas).  There is no charge to attend and no need to book places - just turn up on the night if you don't want to stay home and watch the count on your own.  A great opportunity to gather with a few more cats tragics before the end of another fantastic season of AFL!
