Our main aim is to promote GFC membership and help "support" Melbourne-based members. One way we do this is by encouraging and helping the GFC to hold events and functions in Melbourne for Melbourne-based supporters.
Unlike GFC members and supporters who live in Geelong and the surrounding area, Melbourne-based supporters do not get saturation coverage of the club on K-Rock and the Geelong Advertiser or the opportunity to attend the many events and functions held at Geelong.
It is estimated that GFC has over 250,000 "supporters" residing in Melbourne, far more than reside in the Geelong and surrounding areas. Based on figures for 2006, the then 8,500+ Melbourne-based Members represented about 30% of the total GFC Membership. Clearly, there is plenty of scope for an improved Melbourne-based representation across our membership and MetroCats is very keen to help with this. Ideas to help promote our Club and the value of membership are always welcome.
If you reside in Melbourne and are not yet a GFC member, why not join up now? Membership need not be expensive and does directly help our Club. As our Captain says:

Others develop a PASSION over the years for the blue and white hoops, while for some it's their BELIEF and MIND that one day they will run onto the field to play for the greatest team of all. This is our DNA and this is what brings our characteristics together. This is the HEART and soul of the Geelong Cats.
WIthout this LOYALTY and support we are nothing. You must ensure this DNA survives and evolves so that this breed never dies...
